What is Channeling?

Channeling is the ability to connect with other spiritual beings and entities in different dimensions or realms, and convey the messages they wish to communicate to us, to assist us on our journey in our human experience.

Practiced for centuries, the ability to channel Spirit and higher entities does come in a few different forms.

Some gifted people connect through trance channeling, where their body is completely taken over by the entity, and another trusted person acts as a guide or translator to converse with and record the messages the entity is trying to convey - a well known example of this is Abraham connecting through Esther Hicks, with her husband Jerry Hicks acting as her guide, assisting her and recording the messages as she channels Abraham.

How Does Amy Lou Channel?

Another form of channeling is Psychography, Spirit Writing or Automatic Writing as it's more commonly known, and this is how I connect with Spirit and convey the messages I receive.

When channeling, I first begin by a short meditation, to bring myself into a relaxed state. I then focus on my breathing, clear my mind (as much as is possible), and ‘tune in’ to allow whatever messages are to come.

If I am doing a general reading from Spirit, I will begin writing almost immediately, however, when I am doing a reading for someone else, I will tune in to the person’s energy via their name, date of birth, and photo (if provided), and the write down the message that I hear.

It may not make sense, however, when I receive a message from Spirit, it is a mixture of seeing the words in my mind, as well as hearing each word as it is spoken to me. The messages always come word-for-word, and I have no idea what the completed message will be, and simply record what I channel, as it comes.

I never alter a message I receive, except for any spelling mistakes! And sometimes a message will come through so strong and quick that I can’t type fast enough.

How Did You Know You Could Channel Spirit?

There is only one answer to this question...when you know, you know.

After my spiritual awakening I simply felt called to start automatic writing. Writing is something I've done since I was a small child, and as young as seven years old I would even make my own little books, so it was something I have been drawn to do throughout my life.

When I first began channeling, I would begin by asking a question of Spirit, or The Universe. I would type out my question in a blank document on my laptop, get into a meditative state, clearing my mind, and to my astonishment, the answer would come, albeit in a beautiful and insightful way.

How Do You Know it's Not Just You Writing?

Funnily enough, when I was first starting out, I asked myself this exact question so many times. How do I know it's not just me? Is this real?

I would even ask those questions of Spirit and get answers (see below).

I eventually came to the consensus that it definitely was not me, for a few reasons...

1. The Language Used: Some words that come to me during a channeling are words I would never use in my day-to-day life, and sometimes I even have to look up their definition, or get further context of what Spirit is trying to say.

2. Seeing is Believing: I have learned to trust what I see, and essentially I am a witness to my own amazing ability. If I don't believe in myself, who else will? (Spirit has told me this many times). "Trusting in the truth of your being is essential in this human experience", and I couldn't agree more.

3. The Belief of Others: My soul sisters would help me out, asking me to channel messages for them for guidance or answer questions, and they believed in my abilities so much that it helped me to believe in myself even more.

4. I Feel a Presence: When I channel, I definitely feel a presence around me. Although I don't see it, I can sense it and the love that comes with it. It is a beautiful feeling.

A Question for Spirit

If I am to follow this path, I need to address my fears. Such as the fear of people not believing me, especially people close to me like my family or friends. How can I do that?

Answer:

"There are no promises that this journey will be easy.

Just because it is your path, does not mean there will be no challenges.

You may face adversity, anger, or disbelief, but when this happens, you will need to strive to keep focus, and remember that these reactions from others are all coming from a place of fear.

Many people fear what they do not understand, especially if it challenges their own, pre-existing beliefs.

Trust is the greatest hurdle you will have in beginning of this journey with Spirit. But our guidance is there for you, every step of the way, you simply need to allow it, and to continually tune in to receive it.

To begin this journey in earnest, you need to release these fears, it is of utmost importance, because they do not serve you and will only hinder you on this path. Allowing the fear to take hold, or remain, will simply create more obstacles your path, and will make the process of reaching your success much longer.

Trusting in what is true and feels right will yield excellent results, and will unlock the life you were always meant to live. You will be in flow, in touch with your higher self and spirit, and many things you never thought possible will come to you quickly and easily.

All it takes is one step. Let go of the fear, embrace what you know to be good and true. It is the greatest gift you can give yourself.

The burden of thoughts can be heavy, acknowledge them, and continue along this path anyway. You owe it to yourself.

Can Anyone be a Psychic Channel?

Personally, I believe the answer to this question is a resounding, YES!

We're all born with these kind of 'extrasensory' abilities, built-in, however as we move through childhood and early adulthood, we lose touch with our spiritual selves through social conditioning, and the 'education' system, which teaches us the exact opposite of being spiritual and 'tuned in' to our gifts - to listen, learn, obey and conform.

The good news is that if the ability is already there, hidden beneath the surface (which I firmly believe it is for all of us), that with sheer determination, practice, belief and trust we can awaken our amazing gifts whenever we choose, enhance them and then use them for the greatest and highest good of all ♥
